High Tunnels/Hoop House Management

Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, W2493 Hwy. ES, will explore all aspects of hoophouse growing, Friday Feb. 5, 9a.m.-noon — from choosing which model hoophouse to purchase, to erecting and maintaining the structure, to choosing which crops to grow, to managing soil fertility, weeds, diseases, and moisture in the hoophouse, and finally, to considering possible embellishments to the basic hoophouse which would enable you, the grower, to better control the environmental conditions that might be called for by your chosen crops.  As the presenter’s experience is primarily with vegetable crops, there will be limited discussion of hoophouse-grown flowers and other ornamentals.
