Various historic, architectural and culturally significant sites will be participating in a statewide Downtown Open House event from 10 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 14. The local event, hosted by Connect Communities, will feature tours of spaces not usually open to the public like the East Troy Village Square bandstand.
East Troy buildings that will be open during the event include:
East Troy Shell will be giving access to its cupola, which is three stories high with an amazing view, and offering soda taste tests from its Soda Stop with over 200 varieties. McDonald's will have retro hamburger prices that day (49 cent cheeseburgers and 59 cent hamburgers).
Get a tour of East Troy House Historic Inn & Tavern, the oldest operating inn and tavern in Wisconsin, including the haunted second floor. The 1836 log structure has been used as a stagecoach stop, bordello and bootlegger hideout in the past.
See the Fanuc-6 axis training robot and hear updates from the East Troy Community School District about its Smart Labs at Allan ICS.
The event will also feature a pre-1960s car show on the East Troy Village Square from 2 to 5 p.m., live music by JB Jefferson, historic photo display and merchant sponsored events and sales.
Individuals who get their passport stamped at six designated locations will get a free trolley ride.
