Edited: 8/26/2019, 1:16 PM
EAA Chapter 18 Milwaukee will be holding a Young Eagles Rally on from 10 a.m. to p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24 at East Troy Municipal Airport, during which kids ages 8 to 17 can experience aviation through free airplane rides.
This rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program, created to interest young people in aviation. Pilots volunteer their time and aircraft so flights can be provided free of charge for interested young people ages 8 to 17. Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes, allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure safety is the prime concern before every flight.
Following the flight, which lasts about 20 minutes, each young person will receive a certificate making them an official Young Eagle. Their name will then be entered into the “World’s Largest Logbook,” which is on permanent display at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh. The Logbook is also accessible on the Internet at http://www.youngeagles.org/.
Those interested in attending the flight rally on Aug. 24 are asked come to the main terminal building at East Troy Municipal Airport, 2083 County Road L, East Troy, to register starting at 9:30 am. Parent/guardian signature is required on the registration form. This event will be held weather permitting.
