Voters across the region and state hit the polls April 7 to cast their votes for their representatives for various municipal, township and school boards.

Here's a look at how East Troy voted. (All results are unofficial until canvassed.)

East Troy voters reject referendum, leaving school district to make cuts

Voters in the East Troy Community School District rejected a $4 million referendum that would have provided additional funding for operating expenses, including staff costs.

The measure failed with 61% voting no and 39% voting yes. (See below for specific breakdown.)

With the district’s current operational referendum funding set to expire after the 2025-26 school year, this vote will force the district to reassess how East Troy schools move forward.

District officials are facing a financial squeeze with state education funding not allowing it to keep pace with rising expenses and were hopeful East Troy’s voters would ease the burden with additional funding.

The referendum would have allowed the district to exceed its state-imposed revenue limit by $4 million per year for three years, covering the 2026-27, 2027-28 and 2028-29 school years. The $4 million per year operational referendum (for three years) would have had an estimated tax impact over the current level by $42 per $100,000 of assessed property value (or $3.50 per month).

In 2024, voters approved a $19.4 million capital referendum, allowing East Troy schools to move forward with key facility, safety and maintenance upgrades.
